Unplugged Line Coding
What is the Line Coding?
– Add a command color at the required point on the black drive line to reach the destination.
– Since the robot runs autonomously, it can be used for traffic safety training, etc.
1. How to use the unplugged line coding function
(1) Switch the power slide to the ON position. (The state that the head light changes to rainbow color continuously)
(2) Wait until you hear a beep.
(3) Click the button once shortly.
(4) The head light turns orange with a melody sound to enter the Line Coding function.
(5) If you place the Turtle robot on the right side of the black line and click the back button, the head light turns white and starts to move along the line.
2. Driving Rules (line-tracing)
– The Turtle moves along the right border of the black line.
– The black line must have a constant line width of at least 6 mm. The line width should be wider in proportion to the speed.
– In areas with narrow line widths, you can leave the line.
– When you meet a place that has been colored, perform the command according to the color.
3. Colors and corresponding driving commands
Color | Driving Command |
---|---|
GREEN | GO STRAIGHT |
BLUE | TURN RIGHT |
YELLOW | TURN LEFT |
PURPLE | U-TURN |
RED | STOP / GOAL |
4. How to use color code
– Because the Turtle moves along the right border of the black line, it must be painted to the right of the direction it is traveling.
– The black line corresponds to the center line of the road.
– Color area should be about 1 × 1 ㎠. Draw a square in advance and fill it inside, or use a genuine color pen with a square tip.
– It may not be recognized well depending on the pen type and color.
– Crayons should not be used because foreign matter gets in or slips on the wheels or bearings.
– If you paint with a pen, we recommend that you close the black line.
5.1 Line Coding Example 1: Operation on a Straight Line
– If you paint on a straight line, GREEN will just pass.
– BLUE and YELLOW are not used. Use it to get off the road.
– The Turtle moves along the right border of the black line. When Turtle meets the end of the black line, it draws turn in a large circle.
– PURPLE will move straight along the road after turing 180 degrees on the spot. (U-turn)
– RED is a stop (Stop / Goal).
– To start again, place the robot on the line and click the button.
5.2 Line Coding Example 2: Operation on Intersection
(1) GREEN means a straight signal at an intersection. That is, go straight across the intersection. But at T-junctions, it leaves the road.
(2) BLUE means a right turn signal at an intersection. That is, drive along the road on the right. Follow the road to the right without blue signal, but use it for correct movement.
(3) Yellow means a left turn signal at an intersection.
(4) Purple will move straight along the road after turning 180 degrees on the spot. (U-turn)
(5) Red means a destination arrival. (Stop)
6. Notes on Line Coding
(1) Line-tracing may fail if the prints is wrinkled or the table is not flat.
(2) Make sure to keep the prints against the floor on a flat table.
(3) You can designate two commands at the left and right at a straight road, and four commands at the intersection. At the T intersection, all three commands can be designated depending on the direction of entry.
Straight road
T intersection
Cross intersection
(4) In the case of maps with color drawings, white roads (10mm or more in width) should be drawn on the left and right of the black center line.
(5) The line distance to the intersection should be 10 cm or more.
(6) If the color is not recognized well or the line is not well traced, you need to calibrate the ‘white balance’.
(7) Genuine Color Turtle Marker – Please use 6 colors marker for line coding. (Other company pens may not be recognized.)
